Job Position: Mech Project Manager

We have a vacancy for a full time Freelance Mechanical Project Manager to deliver the mechanical element of a £6m M&E office refurbishment project in the Manchester area.

The project duration is expected to be in the region of 12 months, commencing in February 2024.

You will be working closely with the Contracts Manager, Site team and the Main Contractor.

You will report directly to the Senior Contracts Manager.

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • A minimum of an HNC in Mechanical Building Services or equivalent qualification, or
  • A proven track record of delivering projects of a similar size, type and complexity.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Be able to demonstrate a good commercial awareness.

Job Position: Senior MEP Quantity Surveyors

We have several vacancies for full-time Senior MEP Quantity Surveyors for various projects in the Manchester, Liverpool and Shrewsbury areas.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience of MEP Services Quantity Surveying.
  • Negotiation of Contracts with various Clients.
  • Procurement of Subcontracts and Account Management.
  • Applications for Payment and Cashflow forecasting/management.
  • Prepare and review contracts, including cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
  • Conduct on-site visits to assess project progress and ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to monitor costs and identify potential cost-saving measures.
  • Analyse and evaluate project variations, claims, and disputes.
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budgets for construction projects.
  • Provide advice on procurement strategies and contract administration.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for potential projects.
  • Issue and Administration of Client Contractual Notices.
  • Final Account negotiation.

Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or degree in Buildings Services Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or similar role in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards - Proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation and budgeting.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.

  • Manage and oversee a mechanical refurbishment project from start to finish, ensuring successful completion within budget and timeline
  • Collaborate with clients, designers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop project plans and specifications
  • Review and interpret project contracts, drawings and schematics
  • Coordinate and schedule project activities, including manpower, equipment, and materials
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential issues or delays, and implement corrective actions
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure quality control and adherence to safety regulations
  • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders
  • Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking expenses, and approving invoices

Experience:

  • HNC/HND/Degree qualified in Mechanical Building Services Engineering or related field is preferred but not essential.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or similar role in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems, equipment, and codes/regulations
  • Proficient in reading of drawings and interpreting schematics
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage a team
  • Must have SSSTS or SMSTS certificate
